A Connecticut judge has vacated the manslaughter conviction of a 23-year-old man arrested in a 2008 shootout at a Hartford parade that killed a man and injured six other people including a 15-month-old girl and a 7-year-old boy.
Hartford Superior Court Judge Joan Alexander on Wednesday threw out Michael Ledbetter's conviction and he was expected to be released after spending five years in prison. He had taken a plea deal and was sentenced to 14 years in prison for killing reputed gang member Ezekiel Roberts during the West Indian Day parade.
The Journal Inquirer reports another man has been charged with killing Roberts and witnesses against Ledbetter recanted.
It's not clear when Ledbetter will be released.
Two other men involved in the shootout are serving prison sentences for assault.
