Suspect Shot by Troopers in Mansfield Fired Gun at Police: State Police

A suspect was airlifted to the hospital after being shot by state troopers in Mansfield Tuesday.

Connecticut State Police said troopers responded to a report of a domestic incident involving a man with a gun on Storrs Road around 7:30 p.m. According to state police, the suspect fired at the troopers, who returned fire and hit the suspect.

The suspect's condition was not immediately clear

An officer sustained minor injuries and those injuries are not from gunshots.

Detectives from the Western District Major Crime unit responded to investigate the incident.

The troopers involved were placed on administrative assignment and an internal investigation is also underway.
