To Find Work, Head to the “Lake”

You're bound to see crowds gathering at Lake Compounce the first weekend of April, but the visitors will be looking for jobs, not entertainment.

The amusement park plans to hire about 1,200 workers for the upcoming season and will host a job fair to meet with prospective employees.

They're looking for ride operators, lifeguards, sales clerks, custodians and others. The sessions will run from 3 to 6 p.m. on Friday, April 3, and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 4. Details are at www.lakecompounce.com.

"We expect to see a higher number of applicants this year due to the large number of layoffs being seen throughout the area," general manager Jerry Brick said. "This means we'll have the luxury of being more selective than ever."

The application is also available online.
