Man Admitted to Robberies at 2 Plainfield Gas Stations: Police

A Chaplin man charged in a robbery at one Plainfield gas station confessed to two robberies, according to police.

Police arrested 21-year-old Cody Lester on Saturday after receiving a 911 call around 5:45 p.m. reporting an armed robbery at Best Way Gas Station, at 2 Prospect St. in Moosup Village.

Police said Lester had a knife, demanded the store clerk give him money and then fled.

Police identified Lester as the suspect and said he confessed to another robbery, one at the Valero Gas Station on East Main Street in the Central Village section of Plainfield on Oct. 12.

Then, he confessed to the robbery of the Best Way Gas Station, police said.

Lester was charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree reckless endangerment and sixth-degree larceny in connection with the burglary at Best Way Gas Station.

He is being held on a $100,000 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned in Windham today.

Police said they are also applying for a warrant charging Lester in the Valero gas station robbery.
