Lottery machines were humming across Connecticut as folks hoping to cash in on the Mega Millions $355 million jackpot got their tickets before Tuesday night's drawing. Here are the winning numbers: 15, 47, 4, 25, 8, and the Megaball was 42.
The multi-state drawing was so popular with players that the jackpot actually increased as the day went on.
A single winner could take a cash option payout of more than $224 million, according to the Mega Millions website.
Players try to win by matching five regular numbers plus the "Mega ball". Besides the jackpot, prizes range from $2 to $250,000.
The largest Mega Millions jackpot ever was $390 million in 2007. That prize was split by two players in Georgia and New Jersey.
