Police are investigating after several people suspected of trying to break into parked cars in Hamden led police on a chase to Hartford early this morning and managed to get away.
Several residents called police around 3 a.m. on Wednesday to report a group trying to enter parked cars, so officers responded to Dunbar Lane, where they saw a Toyota Corolla carrying four people speeding away.
The car had been stolen from Bloomfield on March 20, police said, and Hamden officers tried to stop the car, but the driver kept going.
First the vehicle went north on Route 15 and people in that car proceeded to toss several items out of the windows as they fled, police said.
State police then assisted in the pursuit, which continued north on Interstate 91, toward Interstate 84 West and ended in Colt Park on Stonington Road in Hartford, where all four people in the car got out of the car and ran.
Hamden Police processed the stolen car.
State police said a K9 team responded, but did not find anyone.
