Police Make Arrest in Stabbing Death

Police have arrested a New Britain man for murder last spring in New Haven. Thursday night, the Major Crimes Unit arrested 23-year-old Brian Ellison of New Britain for the murder of Jerry Atkins, according to police. 

Last April, maintenance workers discovered Atkins’ body rolled in a carpet and placed in a garbage can behind 103-105 Sheffield Avenue. He'd been stabbed several times.

Ellison is a convicted felon who is currently on parole. He was released from prison in August, 2009 after serving time for several weapons-related offenses. He's being held on a $2 million bond.
