State Police Respond to More Crashes This Labor Day Weekend

Connecticut State Police say they responded to 424 traffic accidents during the holiday weekend, a huge spike over the previous Labor Day weekend.

Police say of those 424 accidents in the four-day period from Friday until Monday, 51 involved injury and one was fatal.

Last year, state police responded to 281 accidents, 63 with injury, and none fatal.

Also this year, troopers made 46 driving under the influence arrests, issued 683 speeding citations and 43 seat belt citations.

Last year, there almost half as many DUI arrests, 24, but the 1,314 speeding tickets handed out last year were about twice as many as this year.
