Students Touched by Stranger in School

New school rules: no adults, other than teachers, are allowed into Fox Elementary School in Hartford from 8-9 a.m. or 2-3:30 p.m.  This action was taken after three female students, between the ages of 5 and 11, reported being inappropriately touched.

The three incidents happened since last Friday.  Police say each girl reported what happened immediately.  The girls were given counseling.

School officials have sent home a letter to parents letting them know what happened and telling them what security measures have been put in place to prevent it from happening again.

But some parents are not happy with how the school handled the incidents and they made that known during an emergency meeting at the school Wednesday night.

During the meeting, school administrators elaborated on the incidents. Hartford police said someone walked into the school on Friday, then again on Monday, and inappropriately touched three little.

The principal held off on informing parents until Monday afternoon because he was conducting an internal investigation, a spokesperson for Hartford schools said.

Among the precautions, staff members will escort children who arrive late to school to their classrooms.

One of the three doors in the back of the school will be permanently closed so staff can focus their attention on the other doors in and out of the school.

In addition, Hartford police and school security will have an increased presence at the school while they search for the person responsible.
