A sea of pink took over Lighthouse Point Park in New Haven Sunday as thousands prepared to make strides to put an end to Breast Cancer.
The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K in the Elm City is one of several across the state this month, benefiting the American Cancer Society for breast cancer research and treatment.
According to the American Cancer Society, more than 268,000 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer and 41,760 will die from the disease in 2019. About 2,670 men are also expected to be diagnosed with breast cancer this year with 500 deaths.
The 5K is a chance for survivors, caregivers, family and friends to take a stand and get closer to making breast cancer a thing of the past.
