Police Arrest Suspect in Fatal Hit-and-Run on New Year's Day in Hartford

Hartford police have arrested a suspect in a hit-and-run on New Year's Day that killed a Windsor man.,

Officers responded to the intersection of Main Street at Battles Street around 12:10 a.m. after getting a report of a serious collision involving a pedestrian.

When police arrived, they said they found 51-year-old Michael Brown, of Windsor, in the road unresponsive and with severe life-threatening injuries.

He was transported to St. Francis Hospital where he later died.

According to police, the vehicle involved in the collision fled the scene before police arrived, but was later found unoccupied.

Police asked for the public's help to identify the driver of the black Infiniti G35 involved in the collision.

On Wednesday, police took a 23-year-old South Windsor man into custody.

He has been charged with manslaughter in the second degree, evading responsibility resulting in death, reckless driving, failure to renew registration and illegal operation of a motor vehicle without minimum insurance. Bond was set at $150,000.
