Missile Test Puts Focus on North Korea

President Donald Trump's trip to Europe and planned meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin is being overshadowed by news of North Korea's latest missile test. (Published Wednesday, July 5, 2017)

With its latest missile test-launch, North Korea demonstrated it has the range to hit the U.S.

But, as a top U.S. military official tells NBC News, the rogue regime still appears to lack the guidance technology necessary to aim such a missle with accuracy or “reasonable confidence of success.”

On July 4, North Korea fired what U.S. military officials have now confirmed was the regime’s first intercontinental ballistic missile, marking a milestone for Pyongyang’s weapons program. Officials confirmed that the "two-stage" ICBM was capable of traveling more than 3,500 miles — meaning it would be able to reach Alaska.
