Standing Ovation Greets Pastor Who Made Anti-Gay Statements

A sermon by a North Carolina pastor on May 13 triggered outrage among local activists, but on Sunday, the Hickory Record reported the pastor was greeted with a standing ovation by his church. In his Mother's Day sermon, Pastor Charles Worley called for members of the the LGBT community to be placed behind an electric fence so they could 'die off." In response, a peaceful protest was planned by the Catawba Valley Citizens Against Hate at Providence Road Baptist Church on Sunday. According to the protest organizer, more than 400 people are expected to attend.
