The Bruins are 7-7-2 after 16 games.
Senators forward Brady Tkachuk scored the winning goal 21 seconds into OT.
Bruins goalie Jeremy Swayman made 31 saves on 34 shots. Senators goalie Linus Ullmark made 14 saves on 16 shots. It was Ullmark's first start in Boston since the Bruins traded him to the Senators back in June.
The Bruins will be back in action Tuesday against the Blues in St. Louis.
The veteran goaltender made 14 saves, including a clutch stop on an odd-man rush in overtime, to help the Ottawa Senators earn a 3-2 win over his former team, the Boston Bruins.
Brady Tkachuk scored the winning goal for the Senators just 21 seconds into the extra period.
The Bruins generated almost no offense in the third period, tallying zero shots on net despite the score being tied 2-2 the whole 20 minutes. Boston finished with just 16 shots overall and again failed to score on the power play.

Former Bruins goalie Linus Ullmark made 14 saves for the Senators, and none of them were more important than this stop early in overtime.

For the second straight game, the Bruins are going to overtime. They beat the Calgary Flames 4-3 in overtime on Thursday. The B's were outshot 11-0 in the third period. They generated almost nothing offensively for 20 minutes in a tie game.

Nick Jensen drilled Cole Koepke from behind along the boards, which prompted a quick response from several Bruins players, although no fights broke out. Koepke stayed down on the ice for a bit but eventually got up under his own power. He headed down the tunnel to the locker room. There was no penalty on Jensen as it appeared Koepke may have turned into the hit at the last second.

The second period was far more entertaining than the first period. The Bruins got on the board with two goals over a 15-second span -- one from Pavel Zacha and another by Brad Marchand. B's netminder Jeremy Swayman made several key saves in that frame, including a huge stop on a 2-on-1 odd-man rush for the Senators during a Bruins power play.
The Senators tied the score late in the second period on Michael Amadio's first goal with Ottawa.
Boston earned an 8-7 lead in shots, a 9-6 scoring chance advantage and a 5-2 edge in high-danger chances at 5-on-5 during the second period. Special teams continue to be a problem for the Bruins. They had a power play late in the period and squandered a couple quality scoring chances by overpassing. Boston needs to have more of a shoot-first mentality with the man advantage.

Score alert: Senators tie it with goal by Michael Amadio
The Bruins are finally on the board thanks to a pretty goal by Pavel Zacha. The veteran forward flung a backhander past Senators goalie Linus Ullmark to tie the score. It was a nice spin move by Zacha.
The Senators scored a power-play goal with 7.8 seconds remaining to go into the first intermission with the lead. Overall, it was a pretty lackluster period for both sides. Neither team cracked the 10-shot mark and there were just seven scoring chances combined at 5-on-5 (four for Ottawa, three for Boston), per Natural Stat Trick.
Both goalies played very well in the opening 20 minutes.

The Bruins just showed a Linus Ullmark tribute video on the Jumbotron and the fans gave him a loud standing ovation afterward. There's been lots of love for Ullmark tonight.
Nov 9, 2024; Boston, Massachusetts, USA; Boston Bruins goaltender Jeremy Swayman (1) talks with Ottawa Senators goaltender Linus Ullmark (35) before a game at TD Garden.
Former teammates Jeremy Swayman and Linus Ullmark embraced at center ice at the start of pregame warmups and posed for a picture. They shared a hug, too.
Ullmark received a loud ovation from Bruins fans as he stepped onto the ice for warmups.
Veteran goaltender Linus Ullmark will make his much-anticipated return to TD Garden on Saturday night when the Bruins host the Senators. Ullmark spent the last three seasons with the Bruins and ranked among the NHL's best goalies during that span, including a Vezina Trophy win in the 2022-23 campaign.
Amid a salary cap crunch, the Bruins traded Ullmark to the Senators back in June and received goalie Joonas Korpisalo, fourth-line center Mark Kastelic and the No. 25 pick in the first round of the 2024 NHL Draft (Dean Letourneau).
Ullmark has struggled for the Senators so far, posting a 2-4-0 record with a .892 save percentage and a 3.02 GAA. That said, a win versus his former team could be just what Ullmark needs to get back on track for Ottawa.
