Shakim Phillips Questionable This Week

The Huskies were without their best receiver, Shakim Phillips, last week against Michigan -- and they still should've won. But as UConn prepares for Buffalo this Saturday, there's a 50-50 chance Phillips will remain sidelined with a hamstring injury he suffered during the loss to Maryland two weeks ago.

"Every day I'm working, we're getting better in treatment, so I'm walking better, I'm running better," Phillips said, via the Hartford Courant. "I'm looking to give it a go this weekend, but we'll see."

Through two games, Phillips , has 15 catches for 255 yards and 3 touchdowns, and provided Chandler Whitmer with a legit downfield threat, something he didn't have a year ago.

"It's frustrating coming off the game I had but I have to let it heal rather than rush it back," Phillips continued. "We still have a long season ahead of us. Coach doesn't want me to re-injure it [so] I'll be sitting out toward the end of the season as well. I'm just trying to let it heal, but it's very frustrating watching."

In other injury news, coach Paul Pasqualoni said Thursday that he expects right tackle Kevin Love to play against Buffalo, although cornerback Taylor Mack and linebacker Graham Stewart -- like Phillips -- are listed as questionable.

Pasqualoni also denied that he'd keep players out this week because the team has a bye next week ahead of conference play.

"If they are healthy they are playing. If they can play they are playing. This is an important game."

When you're 0-3, there is no planning for the future because the future is now.
