Suspect Charged in Shooting, Armed Robbery Attempt

Davon Eldemire is accused of shooting a Bridgeport grocery store owner during an armed robbery attempt Dec. 17.

Bridgeport police have arrested the person accused of shooting a grocery store owner and attempting to rob the place Dec. 17.

Davon Eldemire, 20,  of Laurel Avenue in Bridgeport, was arrested Friday night and charged with criminal atetmpt at first-degree robbery, first-degree assault and carrying a pistol without a permit.

Police said Eldemire allegedly tried to rob S&K Grocery at 856 Fairfield Avenue at gunpoint and shot the store owner once in the leg.

A woman was also involved in the robbery, and police belive she tried to lure the clerk from behind the counter. She has not been identified or apprehended.

No money was taken.

Eldemire was held on a $1.5 million bond.
