A car struck a bakery in Newington

A car struck Giovanni’s Bakery & Pastry Shop on New Britain Avenue in Newington on Monday morning and police said the driver had a seizure.

The front door and window of the bakery at 456 New Britain Ave. sustained damage in the crash, which happened at 6:18 a.m., according to Newington Police.

The bakery is closed on Mondays.

Police said the car also hit a no parking barrier and damaged a pole.

The driver's condition is not known.
