Memorial Set Up for Hartford Shooting Victim

A memorial of flowers and candles stands on the corner of Sisson Ave. in Hartford, where a man was shot and killed Friday afternoon.

The victim’s family said his name is Omar Santana.

Police aren’t sharing the events leading up to the 28-year-old’s death. Investigators have confirmed that he was shot in the stomach before 4:30 p.m. yesterday, near the intersection of Sisson Ave. and Fales St.

“The streets are bad right now,” said Ken Perry.  Ken Perry lives near the crime scene in Hartford.

"I just [saw] cops and the ambulance come and get somebody, that claimed they got shot,” said Perry.

Santana was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The victim’s family is reaching out to the community for help with funeral expenses. Workers at Cibao Market on Sisson Ave., said Santana’s family left this jar at the store, hoping to collect donations.

Hartford police continue to investigate. No arrests have been made in the case.
