Hartford Firefighter Resigns After 4th DUI Arrest

A Hartford firefighter has resigned after he was arrested on charges of driving under the influence for the fourth time over the weekend, according to a spokesperson for the fire department.

Court records show it's his fifth arrest in recent years.

State police said Cinque Scott, 45, of West Hartford, was arrested after driving erratically on Route 2A in Preston just before 1:30 a.m. Friday. He was also charged with operating under a suspended license and failure to drive right.

A spokesperson for the fire department said Scott had been previously arrested on similar charges.

Scott, a member of the Hartford Fire Department since 2000 who was stationed at Engine 9, was initially placed on unpaid leave but has since resigned, according to the fire department.

He was already on paid administrative leave when he was arrested Friday.

Scott is not the only Hartford firefighter to be arrested on DUI charges. The Hartford Fire Department has been plagued with problems in recent months, many of which came to light after the line-of-duty death of Firefighter Kevin Bell in October.

Mayor Pedro Segarra put together a task force in December to address the challenges facing the department, create a new code of conduct and recommend other improvements.
