LIFE STAR Airlifts Injured 12-Year-Old Skier to Hospital

A 12-year-old girl injured in a skiing accident at Mohawk Mountain in Cornwall was transported by ambulance to Sharon Hospital and then airlifted by LIFE STAR to Hartford Hospital Saturday afternoon.

Mohawk Mountain officials said that skiing as a sport has some inherent risks and they do have injuries from time to time. The mountain Ski Patrol is regularly out on the slopes responding to any accidents.

An ambulance transported skiers twice from the mountain on Saturday, but Mohawk Mountain officials said that's not unusual and that it's fairly routine to have an ambulance respond to assist skiers.

The mountain is 20 minutes from Sharon Hospital.

The identity of the injured skier, the nature of her injuries and her condition are unknown.
