Man Attacked Pregnant Girlfriend With Scissors: Police

A Massachusetts man was arrested in Vernon on Friday, accused of assaulting his pregnant girlfriend and attacking her with scissors.

Vernon police responded to a domestic disturbance on Park West Drive at 11:18 p.m. on Friday.

Police said Lance Redd, 26, of Worcester, Massachusetts, had been accused of punching and kicking his girlfriend, who is eight weeks pregnant, and attacking her with a pair of scissors.

When officers responded, Redd jumped from a second-floor window to escape police, police said.

A short time later, a K-9 team found Redd hiding in thick brush near the apartment.

  Reddwas taken into custody, treated at Rockville General Hospital for a broken toe he suffered when he jumped, and was brought back to the Vernon Police Department, where he was booked and processed.

Redd has been charged with second-degree assault, threatening in the second degree, unlawful restraint, breach of peace in the second degree and interfering/resist arrest. Bond was set at $250,000.

He is due in court on Monday.
