Man Murdered While Trying to Save Woman

Victim was trying to intervene when he saw a woman being beaten

A man was murdered in Bridgeport early on Sunday morning and police said witnesses told them the victim was trying to intervene when he saw a woman being assaulted.

The attack happened in front of 573 Arctic Street at 2 a.m. on Sunday morning.

According to a police department press release, the victim saw a man beating a woman and slamming "her onto the hood of their car."  When he intervened and separated the man and the woman, another man stepped out of the car and stabbed the victim.

The victim, identified by police as Francisco Barbosa, 23, of Bridgeport, was taken to Bridgeport Hospital, where he died from a stab wound.

Now, police are trying to identify the two men and the woman involved in the incident. The car was seen speeding away from the scene after the attack.

The vehicle they were last seen in is described as a late 1990s dark-colored Volvo station wagon.
