Man Ordered Robbery, Shooting: Cops

Police have taken a man into custody who they said is suspected of ordering the robbery and shooting of another man at the “7 Eleven” market at 1351 Whalley Avenue on February 16.

McKenny Davis, who is now 21, had been shot four times and was rushed to Yale–New Haven Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

Police investigated and said they determined that the shooting was in retaliation for a two-year old altercation between Davis and a man known as “Squeak.”

Police said Edward “Squeak” Wright, 20, who lives in the West Hills section of New Haven, was wanted on an outstanding warrant for unrelated gun crimes and confessed he’d ordered Davis to be robbed and shot.

On November 19, Wright was arrested and charged with criminal liability for acts of another/assault-first degree and criminal liability for acts of another/criminal attempt/robbery-first degree.

Police are still investigating and trying to identify the gunman.
