Suspect in Violent Hammer Attack Remains At Large

One victim was in critical condition after the alleged assault, police said.

Three people were hospitalized on Thursday after a violent hammer attack in New Britain and the search for the suspected attacker continues four days later.

Two females and a male were beaten with a hammer at a home at 419 Columbus Boulevard around 6:45 a.m., according to police. The man was listed in critical condition. The two female victims were not as seriously hurt, police said.

Investigators are looking for Randy Breton, 41, in connection with the attack.

Breton knows the victims and police called the attack a domestic incident. They have not said what sparked the incident.

Breton is the ex-boyfriend of the 36-year-old female victim, police said.  The other victims were the woman's 16-year-old daughter and an 18-year-old family friend.

The 18-year-old man was critically injured, according to police.

Breton fled the scene in a tan 2002 Chevrolet Venture Van with Rhode Island license plate # 679454. The van has a replacement Oldsmobile rear hatch door, police said.

Police ask anyone who sees Breton to stay clear of him, but to call 860-826-3000.
