Two woman watching television narrowly escaped injury early Friday morning after a man crashed his minivan into an apartment building in Norwalk.

The Dodge minivan crashed into the front of the building on Butler Street after rounding a bend in the road around 1 a.m.

The two women were watching TV about eight feet from the site of impact and were not injured, according to Norwalk Police.

The driver of the car was outside of the minivan when emergency crews arrived and was taken to the hospital for treatment. His condition has not been released.

The crash knocked out power to the building and shattered windows and a mailbox.

Connecticut Light & Power was called to the scene to make repairs. A building inspector was also called in to check the building's structural integrity.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
