New Haven police have made an arrest in the fatal shooting of a 23-year-old New Haven man on July 3.

Police have charged Jahmal Fulcher, 19, of New Haven for the murder of Brian Gibson, 23, on South Genessee Street.

Police arrived at 85 South Genessee Street in the McConaughy Terrace public housing complex around 12:30 p.m. on that July day and found Brian Gibson, of New Haven, suffering from gunshot wounds.

Gibson was rushed to Yale-New Haven hospital, where he died.

Police are searching for a suspect who ran from the scene.

Police will be holding a news conference about the arrest on  Friday at police headquarters.

The day after the shooting, police said it was connected to another shooting on Division Street. They have not said how the shootings are connected.
