Woman Charged in Norwalk Crash That Killed Pedestrian

Police said the driver was under the influence when she hit the man.

A 51-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with a crash in Norwalk that killed a 65-year-old pedestrian in September and police said she was under the influence when she hit the man.

Police said 51-year-old Darlene Moody, of Norwalk, was under the influence when she struck Archie Hillard at Martin Luther King Drive and Lowe Street at 9:14 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 15.

Moody has been charged with second-degree manslaughter with a motor vehicle, evading, driving under the influence of drugs and or alcohol, interfering with a police officer and reckless driving.

Hilliard was transported to the Norwalk Hospital after the crash and died at the hospital, police said.

Police said Moody left the scene and officers later found the vehicle on Ely Avenue.

Bond for Moody was set at $500,000.
