Police: Escaped Rape Suspect Assaulted Relative

Police say 26-year-old Gregory Lewis, who has been missing since Sept. 15, returned to his parents' home Thursday

Police say a Southbridge, Massachusetts, man facing child rape charges who cut off a court-ordered GPS device and disappeared, briefly returned home, assaulted a family member, and took a gun.

Police say 26-year-old Gregory Lewis, who has been missing since Sept. 15, returned to his parents' home Thursday. Officers say he assaulted a relative, bound and handcuffed that person so they could not call police, took the gun and left.

He is believed to be driving his parents' blue 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Police consider Lewis dangerous and anyone who sees him should not approach him but should call police.

Lewis was released on $1,000 bail after his arraignment Aug. 6 on two counts each of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14 and statutory rape of a child.
