Motorcyclist Killed in Ledyard Crash

A 25-year-old Groton man has died after losing control of his motorcycle in Ledyard and colliding with two other vehicles Saturday evening, according to police.

Police said Kyle Startz of Groton lost control while traveling westbound on Route 214/Stoddards Wharf Road and struck two cars driving in the opposite direction.

It happened around 5:30 p.m. Saturday in the area of 40 Stoddards Wharf Road, according to Ledyard Fire Chief John R. Doucette.

LifeStar was initially called out, but Startz was pronounced dead at the scene and the helicopter was canceled, Doucette said.

No one else was injured in the crash, according to fire officials.

Ledyard police, the Ledyard and Gales Ferry fire companies, Ledyard Ambulance and American Ambulance Paramedics responded to the crash.

Stoddards Wharf Road was closed for several hours between Whalehead Road and Goulart Road for several hours while an accident reconstruction team responded to the scene.
