Vigil Tonight for Student Struck in Farmington

Mateusz Maciulewski was struck near Farm Glen Boulevard on Monday afternoon.

Friends of a Farmington High School student who died after being struck by a car on Route 4 in Farmington will hold a vigil tonight in his memory. 

Mateusz Maciulewski, 14, was struck by a vehicle after getting off a CT Transit bus at Farm Glen Boulevard on Monday. Officials from Connecticut Children's Medical Center said on Tuesday that  Maciulewski, had died.

Maciulewski would have been a sophomore at Farmington High School in the fall. He was a member of the high school crew team. and the vigil will be held at 7 p.m. at the Farmington Boat House at Tunxis Mead Park in Farmington.

Farmington police said on Wednesday that the investigation is ongoing, but witnesses and evidence indicate that Maciulewski crossed into the path of an oncoming car while trying to cross Route 4.

The driver of the car that struck Maciulewski had a green traffic light and speed does not appear to
be a factor, police said.

Farmington police do not expect to file charges, according to a news release issued on Wednesday morning.
