Several Candidates Secure Signatures for Primary

    The primaries will be on Aug. 10.

    Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz, who is the state’s chief elections official, revealed who secured enough signatures to make the primary ballots, and here are the results:

    • Rick Torres, Republican for the 4th Congressional District
    • Rob Merkle, Republican for the 4th Congressional District
    • Mark Greenberg, a Republican for the 5th Congressional District
    • Ed Vargas, a Democrat for State Senate, 1st District
    • Terry Schmitt, Democrat for State Rep., 19th District
    • Michael Zelasky, a Republican for State Rep., 45 District
    • Matt Jalowicz, a Republican, for Probate 18
    • Michael Murray, a Republican, for Probate 52
    • Paul Rubin, a Democrat, for Probate

    The primaries will be held on Aug. 10.

    Registration forms sent by mail must be postmarked no later than Thursday, Aug. 5. The deadline for in-person registration at town offices is Monday, Aug. 9 at noon. The same deadlines stand for unaffiliated voters if they wish to register with a party in order to vote in the primary.
