A Meriden man is dead after an incident involving a train in Wallingford.

It happened near Route 5, or North Colony Road, and Yale Avenue, just before 10:30 a.m. on Friday.

Amtrak said the victim is a "trespasser." Police have identified him as Giovani Policard, 21, of Meriden. He was a wrestler at Maloney High School in 2008, according to wrestling reports from the Record-Journal.

None of the 25 passengers and crew onboard the train were hurt.

Amtrak suspended service on the Springfield line and provided bus transportation for passengers on trains # 493 and #470, traveling between Berlin and New Haven.

Service was restored a little after 1:30 p.m.

This is the second fatality involving a train in this area in about a month.

A woman was killed when she was struck by an Amtrak train on Dec. 5.
