Hartford Police Investigate Homicide

A man was found shot to death on a street in Hartford's North End at about 1 a.m. Sunday on Garden Street, according to police. He had been shot in the back and was taken to St. Francis Hospital, where he died of his injuries. Police have not released his name. No arrests have been made.


Police Foil Possible Shootout Plot

A Portland man is facing weapons and drug charges after an incident on Route 44 in Coventry. Richard Hladky, 58, is accused of sitting in his car Sunday with a loaded shotgun and a 5-inch knife, police said. Hladky was allegedly drunk and under the influence of drugs, according to police, and might have been planning a shootout with police. He is being held on $50,000 bond. 


Garage Door Bandits

Police in Vernon are on the lookout for burglars. The thieves allegedly stole garage door openers from several unlocked cars on Danny Trail and Risly Road, police said. Victims are being urged to disconnect their garage doors until they can be reprogrammed.
