Quinnipiac Student Killed In Car Accident

Quinnipiac University is mourning the loss of a student who died in a tragic accident over the weekend. 

Amanda Garwood, 19, was killed in a crash on Interstate-95 in Augusta, Maine Saturday night.

Garwood's car was struck head-on by another car that crossed the median, police said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the other car was taken to the hospital.

Garwood was a sophomore at Quinnipiac, where she was studying diagnostic imaging, school officials said. She was heading to her hometown of Winthrop, Maine after the end of the fall semester, which ended on Dec. 12..
