State police are searching for an escaped prisoner who fled a police cruiser early Saturday morning.
Police say Luis Delgado, 41 was handcuffed and put in the back of a police cruiser after he was picked up from the Cheney Halfway House on Wethersfield Ave in Hartford around 2 a.m.
The officer was completing paperwork in front of the halfway house when Delgado fled police said.
State police and Hartford police searched for Delgado with a K-9 unit but were unable to locate him.
Delgado whose last known address is 29 Ward Place in Hartford may have ties to Hartford and Lebanon.
Delgado was at the end of completing a sentence for robbery and is now being charged for escaping custody.
State police is asking anyone who may know Delgado’s whereabouts to call 860-534-1000. All calls will be kept confidential.
