2 adults killed, 3 children hospitalized after Thanksgiving crash in Bristol

NBC Universal, Inc.

Two adults died and three children were rushed to the hospital after a crash on Stevens Street in Bristol Thursday evening, according to officials.

The crash involved one vehicle and happened on Stevens Street near the Farmington town line.

A car traveling on Stevens Street went off the road and hit a sign and trees before continuing into the woods and coming to a final stop, police said.

Bystanders and first responders helped the people trapped in the vehicle. Two adults were pronounced dead at the scene, according to Bristol Fire Chief Richard Hart.

Three children were pulled from the car and taken to the hospital. One child was flown by LifeStar helicopter and the two others were taken by ambulance, Chief Hart said. The extent of their injuries was not immediately known.

The chief did not have ages of the children, but said all three were in car seats.

The people in the car were visiting Connecticut from out-of-state for Thanksgiving. The police department said they are not releasing the adults' identities to allow the next of kin travel time and privacy.

Police said they are working to identify everyone in the car and notify family. Anyone with surveillance video that may have captured the incident is asked to contact Officer McKirryher at 860-584-3033 or andrewmckirryher@bristolct.gov.
