A 5 year old boy who went missing in Waterbury earlier was found safely with a relative.
Jeannette Pena, who said she was the boy's mother, posted on Facebook that she couldn't find her son, Jealijah Del Gado after he went to Driggs Elementary for the first time at the new school on Thursday.
Police put out a silver alert for Del Gado just before 8 pm on Thursday.
Waterbury Schools Superintendent Kathleen Ouellette told the Republican American Newspaper that Del Gado got off the bus with another student who he is related to and was released to an adult both children knew. The paper reports the two then went to the relative’s home but the mother was not informed.
Police determined that since it was the first time Del Gado used the bus at the new school, the process was unfamiliar for the family.
