Bloomfield's 911 service has been restored after being down on Tuesday.
Calls were redirected to Windsor police after a garbage truck severed fiber optics for Bloomfield’s 911 service, according to police.
Police said the driver of a private garbage company truck was driving out of Bestor Lane onto Park Avenue and hot a low-hanging utility wire, which partially detaching the wire.
The force of the pulled wire caused another wire that crossed Park Avenue to hang low enough to become a hazard for other drivers, according to police.
Calls to 911 calls were being routed through Windsor Police and a Bloomfield police dispatcher was posted there until service is restored.
Bloomfield police were urging callers to dial 860-242-5501, extension 0 to reach police dispatch to get services in a timely manner.
Police said services would be dispatched to people who call 911, but the response could be slower than normal during the outage.
