Prosecutor: Woman's Defense Has No Teeth to It
A Stamford woman has been convicted of practicing dental work without a license.
Adriana Salazar, 33, is a Columbian native. The prosecutor says she was using an oversized wheelchair to torture fellow Columbians who didn't have dental insurance or access to real dentists.
She was busted after an undercover officer arrived for a dental appointment at her home in September. Police say her house was filled with dentistry equipment. Salazar has been granted accelerated rehabilitation.
East Hampton Man Convicted in Child Porn Investigation
It's six years behind bars for a 39-year-old East Hampton man, convicted of having child pornography.
Officials say Jeffrey Hall was busted in a nationwide sting called "Operation Emissary". The sting went after people using pay-to-view child porn websites. Hall had more than 600 images on his computer, many of which were children younger than 12.
Hall was sentenced Tuesday in New Haven federal court to six years in federal prison.
Police Departments Spar over Homeless Drop-Off
Stonington's police chief has suspended an officer for dropping off a homeless man in New London. Officer Randy Hold has been suspended for four days without pay after a New London officer spotted the drop-off on Colman Street in September, police said. The man became combative after New London police brought him to the hospital, according to police. The New London Police Department called Stonington's chief to complain about the drop-off.
Bathroom Death Still a Mystery

What killed a woman found dead in her bathroom over the weekend is still a mystery. The autopsy was inconclusive. Police had labeled the 29-year-old woman's death as suspicious. She was found unresponsive in her Berkeley Drive apartment late Saturday night. Paramedics were called to the scene and the woman was pronounced dead a short time later. The state medical examiner's office is awaiting toxicology reports.
Man Critically Wounded in Hartford Shooting
A man in his early 20s is in critical condition after being shot in the back of the head Tuesday night in Hartford.
Court Date for Cheshire Home Invasion Suspects
The lawyers for two men accused in the Cheshire home invasion are in court Tuesday. Steven Hayes and Joshua Komisarjevsky are accused of holding the Petit family hostage in their home and killing Dr. William Petit's wife Jennifer and his two daughters in July 2007. Both suspects have extensive criminal records and were out on parole at the time.
Fire Destroys Mass. Church
Fire destroyed a Springfield church that was under construction Wednesday morning and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms is investigating.
The Macedonia Church of God in Christ in Springfield was one year into construction, WWLP reports.
