Fire Destroys Southington Business

DEEP now cleaning up chemicals left behind

Smoke could be seen for miles as a large fire burned inside 200 Clark St.,  in the Plantsville section of Southington.

The garage, owned by TC & Sons, was destroyed by fire on Thursday afternoon.

The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection is now working to remove various chemicals from the charred remains.

Propane, oxygen and acetylene tanks were inside the building.

Two-thousand gallons of diesel fuel were delivered to the site on Thursday morning, but luckily did not ignite.

Southington fire officials said it was unclear how many people were inside when the fire broke out around 12:30 p.m., but no one was injured.

Ryan Bailey, who rents space at the building and work on trucks for a company called Disturbed Image, said four to five trucks that were inside are destroyed.

Brian Kelley took dramatic video of the fire.

Here is some more video of the fire.

Sara Tellerico tells us on Facebook that she drove home and saw smoke from a mile away.

We have a crew heading to the scene. More information will be posted once it becomes available.
