The man found dead inside 24 Golden Court in Naugatuck on Sunday died of natural causes.
A friend of Krzysztof Wojcik, 58, and Danuta Wojcik, 61, called police after not hearing from the couple in a week, police said. Officers arrived and tried several times to reach the couple, but there was no answer.
They found Krzysztof dead in a bedroom, and his wife was unconscious and suffering from unknown injuries.
Krzysztof died of cardiomyopathy, an enlarging of the heart that hinders its ability to pump blood, the medical examiner told the Associated Press.
Danuta was taken to St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury. A hospital spokeswoman said on Tuesday that she was in critical condition.
