New Parking Restrictions in Bridgeport

Altnernate-side parking arrives in Bridgeport.

If you park your car in Bridgeport, you might soon have to move to the other side of the street.

Starting Monday, the Bridgeport Police Department will begin enforcing the City’s alternate-side-of-the-street parking program.

Parking on residential streets will be restricted from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. during certain times of the month.

Parking or standing will be allowed on the even-number side of the streets on even-number days during certain periods, and parking or standing will be permitted on the odd-number side of the street on odd-numbered days during those times.

The city is divided into 3 sections: red, blue, and green, under the new plan.  Color-coded signs are on city streets to let drivers know where each zone is located.

Alternate side parking rules are enforced in red zones from the 1st to the 10th of every month.  Blue zone enforcement occurs from the 11th to the 20th. Parking restrictions in green zones will be enforced from the 21st to the last day of the month.

The program will help the city continue street sweeping and maintenance. Copies of the parking ordinance are available at the City Clerk’s Office at Bridgeport City Hall.
