One Man Killed Two Others Injured in Separate Shootings

Hartford police are investigating three separate shootings in a twelve-hour span that left one man dead and two men wounded.

A twenty-four year old man was shot multiple times including in the head near 226 Martin Street shortly before 7:30 pm on Friday police said.

The victim whose name has not been released was transported to Saint Francis Hospital where he was pronounced dead around 9 pm.

The shooting occurred hours after Hartford Police held a press conference to discuss putting gunshot-detecting sensors in high crime areas around the city.

This could be Hartford’s 18th homicide this year, up from 11 during the same time in 2010.

Another shooting occurred at 1:45 am Saturday morning in the city’s South End.

Police responded to a report of shots fired at Club Gemini on 800 Maple Ave. Around the same time a call came in from Hartford Hospital reporting a man had been shot in the right arm and driven to the hospital by a friend.

At the scene witnesses provided police with several different stories. No arrests have been made.
Around 4 am police received a call from a man who reported he had been shot in the area of 160 Nelson Street.

When officers arrived they found the man hiding behind a dumpster near 128 Judson Street.

The victim to police he was walking on Nelson Street when he heard some men approaching from behind stating, “That’s him,” and began firing.

The victim suffered a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the buttocks.

The suspects are described as four unknown males wearing all black. No arrests have been made.
