An 89-year-old Old Saybrook man who was struck by a car on Tuesday night has died and police have identified him as Edwin Roscoe.
Police received several 911 calls reporting a vehicle hitting a pedestrian on Maple Avenue in Old Saybrook, near Cambridge Court West, at 8:11 p.m.
Police, fire and ambulance personnel responded and tried to treat Roscoe, but doctors at Middlesex Hospital Shoreline Medical Center in Westbrook pronounced him dead, according to police.
The driver remained at the scene and police continue to investigate.
