Police Nab One of Two Suspects in Casino Chip Robbery

Police have arrested one of two men accused of stealing $7,000 in gaming chips from a gambler at Mohegan Sun Casino earlier this month.

According to police, Niren “King” Davis, 33, of Norwich, and Jorge “Pap” Morales, 28, took the chips from a roulette table the night of Nov. 14 and punched the victim in the face before running off.

Authorities identified both suspects within 48 hours of the theft, and Mohegan Tribal Police obtained arrest warrants for the men on Nov. 17. Police arrested Davis on Tuesday and are still searching for Morales.

Davis has been charged with one count of accessory to commit third-degree robbery and accessory to commit third-degree larceny. He was held on $25,000 bond and is due in court Wednesday.

Police searched his red 2006 Nissan Maxima and have seized it as evidence.
