Speeding Driver Had Bricks of Coke: Cops

110MPH reckless driver gets busted for drugs.

State police stopped a Norwalk man’s Lexus because he was driving 110 miles per hour, but then they found bricks of cocaine, police said.

A state trooper pulled over David Collins, 39, of New Haven, around 1:30 a.m. on Interstate 95 North in Norwalk on Thursday morning because of the speed, police said.

As the trooper was questioning Collins, he noticed that the driver was nervous and there were inconsistencies and discrepancies in the information Collins was providing, police said.

The trooper also noticed a large amount of cash in the Lexus LS430 Collins was driving. When another trooper arrived, police searched the vehicle and found two bricks of cocaine and an Oxycontin pill, police said.

Collins was taken into custody and charged with possession of narcotics, possession with the intent to sell, and reckless driving.

He is scheduled to appear in court of April 5 at Norwalk Superior Court.
