Bill Cosby is coming to New Haven on Tuesday to help encourage local youth to stay in school and to work toward academic excellence.

Cosby will be meeting with local school officials and visit Lincoln-Bassett School in the city’s Newhallville neighborhood.

Last November, he spoke at Southern Connecticut State University, the King-Robinson International Baccalaureate Magnet School and did a walk and talk through the Dixwell and Newhallville neighborhoods.

Stanley Battle, interim president of SCSU, a friend of Cosby, invited him.

His trip comes about a week after Russell Simmons was in the city to talk to students about becoming successful adults.

The two high-profile leaders have been in a battle about music content. You can read an article in Roots to learn more.
