Burglars Break Into Cars in Orange

Burglars broke into 10 cars in Orange between Friday night and Saturday morning and police are investigating.

Police said they received several 911 calls on Saturday morning from people reporting thefts from vehicles parked in driveways.

Police said the burglaries happened on Manley Heights, Wellington Drive, Woodland Lane, Barton Drive and Christian Circle.

Nine of the cars were not locked, police said. Keys were left in the other car, which was stolen and left in another neighborhood across town.

Authorities are urging residents to lock their cars because unlocked cars present a crime of opportunity. More often than not, criminals will bypass locked vehicles.

They also ask residents to leave outside lights on and avoid leaving valuables in vehicles overnight.

They also urge drivers not to leave keys in the vehicle.
