A car slammed into the back of a school bus carrying children in Bloomfield Tuesday morning, killing the car's driver, according to police.
The crash happened on Blue Hills Avenue around 8:30 a.m.
Police said the car drove into the back of the bus as the bus was slowing down to make a pickup. The car hit the bus and became lodged underneath, police said.
There were about 10 kids on the bus and no children were hurt, according to police. The age of the students on board was not immediately clear.
The school bus driver complained of back pain and was taken to the hospital.
The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. He has been identified as a 33-year-old man from Hartford, but police did not release his name.
Blue Hills Avenue was closed between West Dudley Town Road and Old Windsor Road while police investigated the crash.
