A wild ride sent one person to the hospital and did some serious damage to a Willimantic house when a car crashed into a house.
Police said the resident of 362 Mountain St. is lucky to be alive.
The man who lives at the Mountain Sreet house had been sleeping until a car drove into his home around 3 a.m. Friday.
When he left his bedroom, he found a car had crushed his living room and he called 911 to report that a car had run into his house.
It was a little more dramatic than that.
Before crashing into the house, the car jumped a curb, an 8-foot fence and a parked car before landing in the Mountain Street living room, police said.
The resident of the house wasn't injured. The driver of the car was. He was taken to Windham Hospital and taken by Life Star to Hartford Hospital around 4 a.m.

The homeowner’s wife said the driver asked them to forgive him.
There is major structural damage to the house, officials said, and the resident will not be able to live in the home at this point.
Police are looking into whether speed and alcohol are factors in the crash.
